There are various ferry connections as well as the option of
travelling by plane from Germany. Please always check the current
timetables and travel times before booking.
Our clear recommendation
Direct ferry to Bergen
The direct Fjord Line ferry from Hirtshals via Stavanger
to Bergen is the most relaxing way to travel.
The crossing is overnight and takes approximately
17 to 18 hours.
You board in the evening, spend the night in a cabin and
usually arrive in Bergen well rested the following morning.
Food and shopping options are also available on board.
This eliminates the need for an additional hotel stay.
After arriving in Bergen, it is only approximately
60 to 70 minutes by car to the holiday home.
This means there is no need for a long onward journey across
Norway.
When booked early, this connection is often particularly
attractive in terms of price and is overall the route we
recommend most.
Alternative ferry route
Ferry via Larvik
An alternative connection is the Color Line ferry from
Hirtshals to Larvik. The crossing takes approximately
3 hours and 45 minutes.
From Larvik, there is then a longer drive towards Bergen and
onwards to Austrheim. Depending on the route, traffic, breaks
and weather, you should allow approximately eight to nine
hours for this journey.
If you arrive in Larvik late in the day, an overnight stop is
recommended.
Flight and rental car
Travelling by plane
The nearest airport is Bergen Airport Flesland.
Various rental car companies are available directly at the
airport.
The distance to the holiday home is approximately 75 kilometres.
Depending on traffic and the chosen route, you should allow
around 75 to 90 minutes for the drive.
